ABOUT THE TRAINER

Malory Atkins-Johnson

Since 2015, my unwavering dream has been to establish "By Your Side Canines." In 2019, I took a decisive step towards fulfilling this vision by recognizing the need for more well-mannered dogs and a deeper understanding of canine communication among owners. To equip myself with the best knowledge and skills, I enrolled in the prestigious Karen Pryor Academy, where I obtained my certification and license as a dog trainer.

With my certification in hand, I wasted no time in bringing my positive reinforcement-based training approach to my local community in Port Orchard, WA, and the surrounding areas. Through By Your Side Canines, I have successfully assisted nearly 300 dogs through a variety of program options, and I've extended my services to include boarding and engaging puppy playtime sessions.

As I continue my journey, I am committed to upholding the values of kindness and empathy, ensuring that By Your Side Canines remains a place where every dog receives the love and care they deserve. I look forward to serving the community and helping even more dogs in the years ahead.

ABOUT BY YOUR SIDE CANINES LLC

THE MISSION: progress, not perfection

Being a dog lover and trainer, my mission is to encourage clear communication between dog owners and their pets through simple, easy, effective, and natural training approaches that appeal to the canine psyche. My motto is ‘progress, not perfection’. What does this mean? It means your dog will not change overnight; every dog is different, and they have different driving factors. My job is to find that drive and use it to enhance your dog’s understanding of what you’d like them to do. Then I will teach you how to clearly communicate to your dog. My ultimate goal is to improve the human-canine bond, thereby reducing the possibility of abandonment, maltreatment, and euthanasia of companion dogs.

We work on behaviors that help with potty training and basic skills, sensory activities, socialization skills, basic manners such as sit/stay, down, down/stay, loose-leash walking, and recall. We also help with correcting common behavior problems such as digging, jumping, barking, and boundaries.
